Kathmandu-Ghaziabad’s Siddharth Vihar Gaur Siddhartham Colony in India has banned renting flats to unmarried individuals. A poster reading “No bachelors allowed” has been displayed at the colony’s main gate.

According to resident Arun Singh, a recent cybercrime raid in one flat led to the arrest of three to four unmarried youths, with INR 2.5 million in cash and a pistol recovered, tarnishing the colony’s reputation.

Residents complained that unmarried tenants often make noise late at night, disturb others, and create an unsafe environment for women and children. In response, the colony held a meeting last Saturday and decided to prohibit renting to unmarried residents.

Out of approximately 500–600 rented flats, 150–200 are currently occupied by unmarried individuals. As per Hindustan reports, these tenants will only be allowed to stay until the end of their current lease, after which renewal will not be permitted.
