Joshi had traveled to Israel to participate in an agricultural education program and was abducted from Kibbutz Alumim.
According to the Jerusalem Post, a November 2023 report by the Wall Street Journal highlighted that Joshi played a critical role in saving the lives of those hiding in the shelter. After entering a room with two grenades, one grenade was caught by Joshi and thrown outside, while the second exploded, seriously injuring five of his friends.
The report further states, “Joshi was taken by Hamas to Gaza and was at one point kept at Shifa Hospital. Evidence confirming his life is limited, but one video shows him at the hospital.”
