Kathmandu – In recent days, rumors have spread rapidly in online media that Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and youth activist Victor Paudel are preparing to launch a new political party. Reports claim that prominent personalities such as Kulman Ghising, Gopi Hamal, and Sagar Dhakal could also be included. However, Dharan Mayor Harka Sampang appears to be excluded from this emerging political front.

Amid growing speculation, Victor Paudel strongly denied the claims, describing them as a “media trial” and “misinformation.” Posting on social media, he clarified, “Some outlets are spreading false news saying I am opening a party with certain people. But as of now, I have no interest in joining politics. I believe one does not need to enter politics alone to contribute to society—there are many other ways as well.”

Paudel further outlined his stance, saying, “I am neither for nor against any particular party or individual. My only belief is that good people and youth should step forward in politics. To bridge the generation gap, young people with pure intentions should come forward, and I will always support them—whether they join a political party or remain independent.”

Meanwhile, Dharan Mayor Harka Sampang has been vocal in his criticism of Balen Shah. Following the Gen-Z protests, Sampang traveled to Kathmandu, stating that he sought to provide a political way out of the crisis. However, after failing to secure the position of Prime Minister, he returned to his home district. He also revealed that he was offered the leadership of the Ministry of Water Supply and Labour but declined.

Once back in Dharan, Sampang resumed his attacks against Balen. In response, Balen indirectly addressed him, saying with sarcasm that his feelings toward Harka had always been “one-sided love.”

Now, with growing rumors that Balen Shah is preparing to launch a new party, Sampang has once again lashed out. Writing on social media, he stated, “Someone who hides while the country burns now wants to open a party. What kind of youth will join a party run by a foreign agent? I can only laugh.”

He added, “No matter how many thousands or millions become martyrs in the name of geopolitics, this country will never be built that way. The idea of independence rooted in this soil is disliked by foreign powers. What they show outside and what they really plan inside are two completely different things. True Nepalis understand my words, while those who are bought and controlled only attack me.”
