The meeting follows growing concerns among political parties about the security and feasibility of holding the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 (Falgun 21). This is the first collective meeting Prime Minister Karki has held with political parties since assuming office, following her rise to power from the Genji Movement.

Previously, PM Karki had also participated in an all-party meeting called by President Ramchandra Paudel.
The CPN-UML has expressed doubts about the possibility of holding the election on the announced date and has instead demanded the reinstatement of the dissolved parliament. In this context, the Prime Minister has initiated a dialogue among parties to build consensus.
Observers Kedar Bhakta Mathema and Vidyadhar Mallik will attend the meeting.
Participants include Sharvendra Nath Shukla from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Resham Chaudhary from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, Prem Suwal from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, and Chandan Singh from the Janamat Party.
From Nepali Congress, Gagan Thapa and Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat; from CPN-UML, Shankar Pokharel and Pradeep Kumar Gyawali; from CPN (Maoist Centre), Barshaman Pun and Pampha Bhusal; from Rastriya Swatantra Party, Dr. Swarnim Wagle and Sobita Gautam; from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rajendra Gurung and Mohan Shrestha; from Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Upendra Yadav and Prakash Adhikari; and from CPN (Unified Socialist), Rajendra Pandey and Prakash Jwala are also participating.
