Kathmandu- On September 24, a massive sinkhole measuring about 50 meters deep and 30 meters wide opened in front of Vajira Hospital in Bangkok’s Dusit district, swallowing a tow truck and electricity poles.

Authorities immediately closed Samsen Road and evacuated patients and nearby residents as a precaution. The hospital also suspended its outpatient services.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt confirmed that the collapse occurred due to soil erosion inside a subway tunnel. Repair works are currently underway.
