Wholesale Egg Prices Increase by Rs. 200 per Carton, Retail Prices Remain Unchanged

Pressadda

Kathmandu: Egg prices in Nepal have increased following a rise in demand with the start of the festive and winter seasons.

The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association announced the revised support prices during a meeting held in Pokhara on Thursday.

The new rates were revised just six days after the previous prices were set on October 23.

Under the new rates, the wholesale price of XL, large and medium-sized eggs has increased by Rs. 200 per carton, while small eggs have become Rs. 100 more expensive per carton.

The revised prices are as follows:

– XL eggs: Rs. 3,900 per carton, up from Rs. 3,700.

– Large eggs: Rs. 3,800 per carton, up from Rs. 3,600.

– Medium eggs: Rs. 3,700 per carton, up from Rs. 3,500.

– Small eggs: Rs. 3,200 per carton, up from Rs. 3,100.

However, retail prices for consumers remain unchanged despite the increase in farm-gate prices.

Large eggs will continue to sell at Rs. 25 per piece, while medium-sized eggs will remain priced at Rs. 45 for two pieces.
