Kathmandu: The powerful Cyclone Arnab’s, which developed over the Bay of Bengal, has begun affecting Nepal. Rainfall has been reported across most parts of the country since Thursday evening.
According to Dr. Binod Pokharel, Associate Professor at Tribhuvan University and a meteorologist, the remaining low-pressure system associated with the cyclone is still some distance from Nepal. However, as it approaches the country this evening, it could trigger heavy rainfall lasting approximately 5 to 10 hours.
He has urged people to remain particularly alert on Friday evening and night, warning that the timing, location and intensity of rainfall may change. Dr. Pokharel also advised people living near rivers and those in mountainous regions to exercise extra caution over the next 30 hours and regularly follow official weather updates.
