The government has proposed a two-year cooling-off period for civil servants under the Federal Civil Service Bill.
Under the proposed provision, employees who resign or retire from government service would have to wait two years before taking up certain government, constitutional, or diplomatic appointments.
A similar provision had been proposed in an earlier civil service bill, but it did not become law after the bill became inactive following the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
