The Cabinet has approved the Federal Civil Service Bill for submission to Parliament. The bill proposes pension eligibility after 30 years and retirement at 55, along with direct appointments from outside the civil service to senior posts.
The Public Service Commission has objected to the provisions, while the changes could lead to more than 10,000 civil servants retiring at once.
