Kathmandu: Nepal Bad Weather According to meteorologist Rajan Lamichhane, rainfall activity is expected to intensify further across western Nepal over the next two days. Most parts of the country are currently experiencing rain due to a low-pressure system that developed over the Bay of Bengal.
Over the past 24 hours, most areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces received heavy rainfall, with some areas recording very heavy rain. More than 140 mm of rainfall was recorded at the Archale weather station in Palpa. Continuous heavy rainfall has increased the risk of floods, landslides and inundation. Rainfall is expected to be heavier today and tomorrow, particularly in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, while weather conditions in the eastern region are likely to gradually improve.
As the system moves westward until September 26 (Ashoj 10), rainfall could intensify in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim. Although the weather is expected to improve in the east on September 27 (Ashoj 11), the western region will continue to feel the system’s effects. The weather is forecast to gradually improve nationwide from September 28 (Ashoj 12), with rainfall activity likely to decrease further from September 29 (Ashoj 13).
Meteorologists have warned that weather conditions may change and said the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology is continuously monitoring the system and will update forecasts and warnings as necessary. People in areas experiencing heavy rainfall or under warnings have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious.
