Aditi Paudel, a 17-year-old high school senior in Tokyo who spent part of her childhood in Nepal, has been appointed Japan’s first literacy ambassador by the World Literacy Foundation. Her love for reading began when her grandfather gave her a newspaper written in Devanagari script during her preschool years.
Paudel developed a strong passion for books and was inspired by Malala Yousafzai’s autobiography to support female education and empowerment. She also plans to collect and donate books to countries with lower literacy rates, including Nepal.
