Kathmandu — The Supreme Court has once again refused to release UML Vice‑Chair and former Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Paudel in connection with a habeas corpus petition. Instead, the court ordered the retrieval of the original case files of the ongoing money‑laundering case from the Special Court.
The bench of Justices Tek Prasad Dhungana and Meghraj Pokharel directed that the complete files of the case involving defendants Sulav Agrawal and Deepak Bhatt be submitted for review.
The petition was filed by Paudel’s wife Domaya Paudel. The Supreme Court stated that since the habeas corpus petition is linked to the money‑laundering case under consideration at the Special Court, the original documents are necessary for judicial determination.
Once the files are presented, further hearings and the decision process on the petition will move forward.
