Kathmandu. The government is nearly ready to increase salaries in line with the recommendation of the Salary and Allowance Review Committee. As proposed, the monthly salary of office assistants will rise to Rs. 35,000, while the chief secretary’s salary will reach Rs. 121,000.
Currently, office assistants earn Rs. 27,612 and the chief secretary Rs. 77,211. If implemented, lower-level staff would see about a 27% increase, while top-level officials would get more than a 56% raise.
Employee unions have demanded a basic salary of Rs. 38,862, along with guarantees for social security, health, housing, and education facilities.
