Prakash Kafle / Kathmandu. The selection process for the position of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives has officially begun today. Candidates for the post will register their nominations today. According to the schedule published by the Parliament Secretariat, nominations will be registered from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. After that, the list of candidates will be made public at 2:30 PM.
The election for the Deputy Speaker is scheduled to take place tomorrow. In the House of Representatives meeting to be held at 4:00 PM, the proposer will present a motion to elect the Deputy Speaker. The proposal will then be discussed and a final decision will be made.
Earlier, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal had set the election date during Wednesday’s meeting and instructed that the necessary procedures be carried forward. Opposition parties are also preparing to field candidates for the Deputy Speaker position. In the House of Representatives, the support of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which is close to a two-thirds majority, is expected to be decisive. However, the RSP has not yet made its position clear regarding whom it will support.
