Money Laundering Case: Arrest Warrant Issued Against Deuba Couple

Prakash Kafle / Kathmandu. An arrest warrant has been issued against former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, former minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba. According to a high-level source, the Department of Money Laundering Investigation obtained approval from the Kathmandu District Court to arrest them as part of an investigation into suspected illegal accumulation of wealth.

The source stated that although the court has already granted permission for their arrest, the process has not moved forward as the couple is currently outside Nepal. The Deuba couple is reportedly abroad. They had traveled to Singapore on Falgun 13 for medical treatment and were later reported to have moved to Hong Kong.

Earlier, during the “Gen Z” protests, incidents involving assault against them were reported. Additionally, burnt currency notes were allegedly found after a fire broke out at their residence in Budhanilkantha. Following that incident, officials from the Department of Money Laundering Investigation visited the residence and prepared an official report. The case is currently under further investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
