Prakash Kafle / Kathmandu: After reaching Kavre from Kathmandu and conducting an on-site inspection of the Roshi River, Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has instructed the relevant authorities to shut down all illegally operating crushers. He stated that this step has been taken considering the significant loss of life and property that occurs every year during the rainy season due to floods and landslides.
According to him, unregulated extraction of gravel and sand from the river has increased the risk of floods and landslides, but the lack of necessary measures to prevent it has worsened the problem. He emphasized his commitment to bringing such activities under control.
Gurung also accused some political parties in the past of allowing illegal crusher operations through collusion and asserted that such practices would now be ended. Additionally, he informed that the government is fully prepared for rescue and relief operations, taking potential disaster risks into account.
He further stated that necessary preparations have been made and relevant authorities alerted to ensure immediate rescue in the event of any disaster.
