Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. Rakshya Bam, a leading voice of the Gen Z movement, has issued a powerful and direct challenge to Prime Minister Sushila Karki, demanding the immediate public disclosure of the ‘Karki Commission’ report. It has been 12 days since the high-level inquiry commission, led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki, submitted its 1,000-page findings to the government, yet the Prime Minister’s administration has kept the document under wraps.
Bam’s appeal follows a viral video showing her being mistreated at Maitighar Mandala by the families of those injured during the September 2025 uprising. Addressing the constant smears and allegations on social media, Bam noted that personal explanations are no longer enough. “Prime Minister, I want to know—is there blood on my hands? Did I really set Singha Durbar on fire, or am I being manipulated by hidden forces? I want the answers to all these questions, and I want them from the official report,” she wrote in a stirring post.
The activist also raised serious questions about the escalation of the protests. She demanded to know how a peaceful student-led movement suddenly turned violent, who authorized the use of lethal force that killed dozens of youths, and who was actually responsible for the arson at the administrative heart of the country, Singha Durbar.
“The eyes of those waiting for justice are turned toward you,” Bam stated, reminding the Prime Minister that her legacy depends on this moment. “How history remembers you is a decision that rests solely in your hands today. Release the report; it is your responsibility.”
