CPN(UML) Secretariat Selects 16 PR Members for Parliament

Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu.  Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML) has finalized the names of 16 Members of Parliament to be elected through the proportional representation (PR) system. The decision was made during a Secretariat meeting held at the residence of party chairman K. P. Sharma Oli in Gundhu, Bhaktapur, on Saturday.

According to Deputy General Secretary Lekhrāj Bhatt, the party has decided to recommend these names to the Election Commission of Nepal for final approval.

The parliament members included in the recommendation are as follows.

Indigenous (Janajati)

Women:

  • Bhumika Subba
  • Gangadevi Shrestha

Men:

  • Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar
  • Kulbhakta Shakya

Khas Arya

Women:

  • Padma Aryal
  • Tukabhadra Hamal
  • Eshuda Kumari Baral (from a backward region)

Men:

  • Guru Prasad Baral
  • Pushparaj Kandel

Tharu

  • Kriparam Rana (Male)

Dalit

Women:

  • Bishnumaya B.K.
  • Nita Ghatani

Madhesi

Women:

  • Ringla Yadav
  • Yashodha Kumari Yadav

Men:

  • Chandreshwar Mandal

Muslim

Women:

  • Sajida Siddiqui

After the list is formally submitted to the Election Commission, the process of confirming them as PR members of Nepal’s House of Representatives will proceed.
