Prakash Kafle/ Kathmandu. The Election Commission has stated that the final results of the upcoming House of Representatives election under the first-past-the-post system will be announced within 24 hours after vote counting begins.
The election is scheduled to take place this Thursday, Falgun 21. Voting will begin at 7:00 AM and continue until 5:00 PM. After polling concludes, ballot boxes will be transported to designated counting centers.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari informed that vote counting will start once all ballot boxes arrive at the counting venues.
Speaking at a press conference held on Wednesday, he said that the results of the directly elected category are expected within 24 hours of the start of counting.
“We will collect ballot boxes from hilly and mountainous regions as quickly as possible. The results under the first-past-the-post system will be made public within 24 hours after counting begins,” he stated.
He further added that efforts will also be made to announce the proportional representation results as soon as possible.
