Prakash Kafle / Kathmandu. When thousands of young people filled the streets of Kathmandu, they were raising their voices for change — many of them students, full of hope and determination.
A BBC investigation says that in the middle of those protests, Nepal’s former police chief ordered officers to open fire with live bullets. The crowd was largely made up of young, unarmed demonstrators.
Among those who lost their lives was a teenager still wearing a school uniform — a heartbreaking reminder that the victims were not just protesters, but someone’s child, classmate, and friend.
