Kathmandu: The resignation of a founding member of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has dealt a major setback to Rabi Lamichhane and Balen Shah. Mamata Sharma, the founding chairperson from Madhesh, has left the party and is preparing to join the Nepali Congress, expressing her trust in Gagan Thapa.
According to sources close to her, she is scheduled to formally enter the Nepali Congress today at a pledge ceremony in Janakpurdham, with Congress President Gagan Thapa also in attendance. Mamata resigned from RSP, even relinquishing her ordinary membership, citing irregularities and financial influence in ticket distribution in Madhesh.

She alleged that party spokesperson Manish Jha and Amresh Singh colluded with RSP president Rabi Lamichhane, who distributed tickets under financial influence. This has fueled dissatisfaction among RSP leaders and cadres in Madhesh.
