Kathmandu—Mahesh Basnet, a former minister and UML politburo member, has alleged that Prime Minister Sushila Karki and former President Bidya Devi Bhandari discussed the possibility of arresting KP Sharma Oli during their recent meeting.
Basnet also referred to Ishwar Pokharel’s statement from Wednesday, where Pokharel suggested that Oli might need to appear before an investigation commission to give his statement.
Basnet claimed that a coordinated attempt is being made to spread fear, disrupt the UML’s upcoming general convention, and reduce overall participation. According to him, opponents are plotting either to defeat Oli in the party election or, if that fails, at least reduce his vote share.
He insisted that the UML would overcome all such conspiracies and asserted that no plan to pressure or arrest Chairman Oli would ever succeed.
