Kathmandu — Emotional moments unfolded at Pashupati Aryaghat today as Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah performed the final rites of his father, Ram Narayan Shah. He passed away at the age of 77 at Civil Hospital, New Baneshwor, after long-term diabetes and recent urinary infection complications.
Doctors pronounced him dead at 12:20 PM. Earlier, Prime Minister Sushila Karki had visited the hospital to meet the family.
Balen appeared heartbroken during the cremation. Following the news of his father’s passing, ministers, political leaders, supporters, and well-wishers gathered from the hospital to Aryaghat. Energy and Urban Infrastructure Minister Kulman Ghising and Nepal Police IGP Dan Bahadur Karki also reached Aryaghat to pay their respects.
