Biratnagar—A vehicle carrying Mahesh Basnet was attacked with red ink by students affiliated with the Nepal Students’ Union (NEBISANG) in Biratnagar, Morang.

The incident occurred while Basnet’s car was following a police van en route to the Koshi provincial-level youth assembly in Sunsari. Youths threw red ink from the roadside at the moving vehicle.

Police have arrested two suspects: 19-year-old Arpit Kunwar from Biratnagar-2 and 25-year-old Sanjog Gautam from Biratnagar-1. Both are currently in custody at the Morang District Police Office.

Gautam is a district member of NEBISANG Morang, while Arpit Kunwar is also affiliated with the student organization. Basnet described the attack as an “insult to democracy.”

After reaching Itahari, Basnet was met with further protests by Gen Z activists in Duhabi, Sunsari.
