Kathmandu—Madhes Province Speaker Ramchandra Mandal has been removed from his position after a no-confidence motion against him was endorsed by a two-thirds majority on Wednesday.
Out of 78 members, 76 were present, and representatives from seven parties supported the proposal.
Mandal had earlier expelled five lawmakers from the assembly, a move widely criticized by political parties. The backlash eventually led to his removal.
