Kathmandu — The Nepal Communist Party (UML) has decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. The House was dissolved on Bhadra 27 following a recommendation from Prime Minister Sushila Karki to President Ramchandra Poudel.
In a meeting of UML’s dissolved House members, party chief coordinators Mahesh Bartola and Sunita Baral were authorized to lead the legal challenge. The party has also called on all political parties, civil society, and professional groups to stand against the dissolution.
UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emphasized pursuing legal remedies and peaceful protest. Vice-Chairman Vishnu Prasad Paudel highlighted the party’s crucial role during the crisis, while General Secretary Shankar Pokharel called for an impartial investigation of the events on Bhadra 23–24.
