Kathmandu Metropolitan City has demolished a structure belonging to Khadka Land Development Pvt. Ltd., owned by Nepali Congress leader and former Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka.
The bulldozer was deployed early Thursday morning on the structure that had encroached upon land owned by Nepal Scouts. Previously, Nepal Scouts had issued a seven-day ultimatum to Khadka Land Development Pvt. Ltd. to clear outstanding rent dues for the land adjacent to the main road in Lainchaur.
Despite repeated notices from Nepal Scouts to pay the rent and vacate the property, the company failed to comply. As a result, Scouts issued a final warning demanding payment within seven days.

When the company still did not settle the dues within the deadline, Kathmandu Metropolitan City took action and demolished the structure built on the Scouts’ land.
The land had originally been leased under a 10-year agreement between Nepal Scouts and Khadka Land Development Pvt. Ltd. in 2065 BS (2008 AD). Even after the lease expired, the company had not vacated the property.
