Kathmandu—Surendra Labh Karn has taken the oath of office and secrecy as the new Chief of Madhesh Province. The swearing-in ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas, in the presence of President Ramchandra Paudel.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, along with heads of constitutional bodies, senior officials, and members of the diplomatic community.
The government had recommended Karn’s appointment on Monday after Sumitra Subedi Bhandari was relieved from the post of provincial chief. Acting on the government’s recommendation, President Paudel appointed Karn as the new Chief of Madhesh Province.
Karn took the oath of office and secrecy immediately after his appointment.
