Kathmandu: After four years, leaders Ram Kumari Jhankri and Krishnakumar Shrestha (Kisan), among others, have returned to the Nepali Congress UML. Jhankri and Shrestha had joined the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) during the UML split in 2078 BS.

On Kartik 19, the Unified Socialist and Maoist parties had merged, creating a unified political platform.

On Monday, under the “Ghar Farka Rashtriya Abhiyan” organized at the National Assembly Hall in Kathmandu, Jhankri and Shrestha officially rejoined their former party, the UML.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli presented them with the party election symbol “Surya (Sun),” while they gave him the “Kalem (Pen)” symbol in return.

Other leaders welcomed into UML during the same event included Gambhir Lal Shrestha, Pitambar Timilsina, Rajaram Syangtan, Wavi Chamling, Dhruv Bist, Navaraj Paudel, Arjun Rai, Ambika Rai, Kedar Gautam, Savitri Nyaupane, Uttam Shrestha, and Keshav Sapkota.
