Kathmandu – One person has died during the demolition of the Bhatbhateni Supermarket building in Naxal, Kathmandu. According to SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Office, one of the two injured individuals lost his life during the demolition process.

Police confirmed that both victims were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment, but one succumbed to his injuries.
The building was being demolished for repair and cleaning after it was damaged during the Gen Z protests. Authorities stated that the fire-damaged structure had begun to collapse, prompting efforts to remove the remaining debris.
During the Gen Z protests on Bhadra 23 and 24, several Bhatbhateni Supermarket branches across the Kathmandu Valley and other parts of Nepal were vandalized and set on fire. The Naxal building was among those heavily damaged, leading to the current demolition work for safety reasons.
