Sonar decided to withdraw his vote of confidence motion and tender his resignation after realizing that his proposal was unlikely to gain enough votes for approval.
Following his resignation, Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal announced that there was no need to table the confidence motion for a decision and subsequently adjourned the meeting.
During the session, Chief Minister Sonar had presented a motion seeking a vote of confidence, but both the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress parliamentary party whips stated that they would not support him.
Similarly, Rahbar Ansari, a member of the CPN (Maoist Centre), declared that he would remain neutral, while fellow Maoist lawmaker Mala Karn expressed her support for Ansari’s stance.
Meanwhile, Janamat Party members and former ministers Satish Kumar Singh and Tribhuvan Sah were absent from the meeting.
The Madhesh Provincial Assembly currently has 107 members, with 54 votes required to form a majority. At present, three members are suspended from the assembly.
