Mahottari: The Nepal–India border will remain closed for three days due to the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections in India.

According to a notice issued by the Mahottari District Administration Office, the border will remain closed from 6 PM on Kartik 22 to 6 PM on Kartik 25. The closure aims to maintain peace and security during the elections scheduled for Tuesday in Bihar.
Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav stated that all movement across the border will be restricted except for emergency and humanitarian services.
Similarly, district offices in Dhanusha, Sarlahi, and Rautahat have also announced border closures for the same period. Rautahat CDO Dinesh Sagar Bhusal mentioned that the border will remain closed due to elections in Sitamarhi and East Champaran areas of India.
Meanwhile, the Janakpur–Jaynagar railway service has also been temporarily suspended. The Nepal Railway Company Limited said services will resume once the border reopens.
