The bench of Justices Basudev Acharya and Om Prakash Aryal issued the order to call for the documents. Once the files are submitted, the court will hold a hearing on Lamichhane’s request to be released on bail equivalent to the loss amount.

During the last hearing, advocate Apoorva Khatri, representing Joshi, argued the case, after which the court decided more documents were required before proceeding further. As a result, Lamichhane’s lawyers could not present their arguments, and the session ended without a conclusion.

The next hearing date has not been fixed yet. Earlier, the hearing scheduled for Kartik 13 was postponed after Joshi’s lawyers submitted a petition.

Lamichhane had filed an appeal at the High Court on Bhadra 9, claiming he had already deposited his share of the misused cooperative funds and should be allowed to fight the case from outside custody.

The Supreme Cooperative fraud case involves a collective loss of Rs. 10 crore 99 lakh 36 thousand, for which Lamichhane submitted a bank guarantee of Rs. 2 crore 74 lakh 84 thousand, equivalent to his share of liability.

Lamichhane maintains that he was neither a shareholder nor a borrower of the cooperative and that he did not misuse any deposited funds.
