Sapkota confirmed that the parties had already signed a political agreement paving the way for their unification. The newly merged party will be named the Nepali Communist Party (NCP).
He stated that the unified party would frame its policies and programs in line with the people’s aspirations, aiming to steer the nation toward prosperity. “After years of ups and downs, we now believe the country must move forward toward prosperity,” Sapkota told reporters following the Maoist Centre’s final meeting on Tuesday.

Sapkota also mentioned that although the party may temporarily set aside Maoist ideology, there will be open discussions on Mao’s contributions, with the possibility of reviving Maoist principles in the future.
“Through broader and lively discussions, Maoism can be re-established later, but for now, our priority is party unity,” Sapkota added.
