Kathmandu—The Central Committee of the Unified Socialist Party has concluded its meeting, with the majority approving a merger with the Maoist Center.

Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal’s proposal for unity was passed with applause. The party has also decided to merge with the Mahindra Ray Yadav-led Nepal Socialist Party (NESPA).

Vice-Chair Prakash Jwal stated that the party secretariat will undertake further preparations for the merger. However, senior leaders, including Jhalnath Khanal, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Vijay Paudel, and Ram Jhangri, have expressed opposition to merging with the Maoists.
