The car’s number plate was also destroyed in the fire, and police have launched an investigation into the incident. “The vehicle was found still burning. We are investigating who set it on fire,” Officer Khadka said.
Chandra Sigdel, Chairperson of the Hatemalo Community Forest Committee, said locals saw the car being driven into the forest from the main road. Shortly afterward, the vehicle caught fire, and residents alerted the police.
Locals suspect that the driver himself may have set the car on fire before fleeing the scene. Police and fire brigade teams arrived after being informed by nearby residents.
