Kathmandu — A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the government’s recent decision to recall 11 ambassadors. Advocate Sunil Bhattarai filed the petition on Sunday, calling the decision unconstitutional and demanding a stay order to halt its implementation.
The petition states that ambassadors appointed by the president after parliamentary hearings under Articles 282 and 292 of the Constitution cannot be recalled solely based on a Cabinet recommendation.

The government had decided on October 6 to recall ambassadors from countries including China, the U.S., Japan, Germany, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, asking them to return to Nepal by November 5.
The petitioner argued that implementing the decision would create a “diplomatic vacuum” and requested the court to issue an interim order preventing enforcement until a final verdict.
