Kathmandu — Nepal has officially secured its spot in the ICC T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time. Competing in the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier held in Oman, both Nepal and the host nation have earned their tickets to the global tournament. One more team is yet to be confirmed. Just moments ago, UAE defeated Samoa, which sealed Nepal and Oman’s qualification for the World Cup.

Both teams remain unbeaten in the tournament and have qualified with two matches still left to play. Nepal and Oman currently have 6 points each in the Super Six stage. Based on net run rate, Oman holds the top position while Nepal is second. If Nepal defeats Oman in the upcoming match, it can climb to the top of the table. Nepal’s final match will be against Samoa on Friday.

The 2026 T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Nepal first played in the T20 World Cup in 2014 and had to wait 10 years for its second appearance. In last year’s tournament held in the USA and West Indies, Nepal gave tough competition to several Test-playing nations. A proud moment for Nepali cricket fans!
