Kathmandu – Nepal has set a target of 149 runs for two-time world champions West Indies. In the first match of the T20I series against West Indies that began today in the UAE, Nepal has set a modest target.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal scored 148 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs, setting a target of 149 runs for the two-time world champions.

Captain Rohit Paudel top-scored for Nepal with 38 runs off 35 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six. Kushal Malla contributed 30 runs off 21 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Gulshan Jha added 22 runs, while Dipendra Singh Airee made 17.

After losing two wickets for just 12 runs, Rohit and Malla stabilized the innings with a 58-run partnership for the third wicket. However, Nepal couldn’t finish strongly and was restricted under 150.

For West Indies, Jason Holder was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. Debutant Naveen Vidaisy claimed 3 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs, while captain Akeal Hosein took 1 wicket.

Nepal has never defeated a full ICC member nation in international cricket. If they manage to defend this total and secure a win, it would be a historic achievement.
