KP Oli in Military Security at Shivpuri? UML Denies Rumors

Kathmandu— Former Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli is under military security at Shivpuri, but claims that he wrote a letter to Gen Z protesters or that it would be made public are mere rumors, clarified UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali.

Gyawali said, “Yesterday, we discussed that he should remain safe as the situation is not yet favorable. It’s not yet decided if he will come out in the next five to seven days.” He added that the letter supposedly addressed by Oli was not official.

According to Gyawali, Oli is under military protection due to adverse circumstances, but calling it detention or arrest is misleading. He added, “We can fight organized states or non-state actors (Maoists), but it’s difficult to fight autocracy.”
