Kathmandu- Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has requested the registration documents required to operate in Nepal. According to Gajendrakumar Thakur, spokesperson and under-secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Meta representatives emailed the ministry’s advisor, Shalikram Parajuli, seeking the documents.
Thakur stated, “We provided the required documents to Meta via email within five minutes.” The government has decided to gradually block social media platforms that are not registered. The Nepal Telecommunications Authority has already instructed internet service providers to restrict 26 social media platforms.
