Kathmandu: A 7.0 magnitude earthquake has been confirmed with its epicenter in Jiuzhaigou, China. The National Seismological Center reported that a powerful earthquake struck early Tuesday morning with its epicenter in Jiuzhaigou.

The earthquake occurred at 6:50 AM, with the epicenter located 35 kilometers from Shigatse in the Dinggye area. The tremors were felt as far away as Kathmandu and other districts. The powerful tremors in the early morning led many residents of Kathmandu to rush outside in panic.

It has been a long time since such a strong earthquake was felt in Kathmandu. As of now, there are no reports detailing the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake.
