All 50 districts of Bangkok were declared disaster zones on Saturday after nearly 48 hours of heavy rain caused widespread flooding and traffic chaos.
Schools will close Monday, and government workers are urged to stay home, Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said.
The declaration lets the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and other agencies respond faster in affected areas. Eastern Bangkok was among the hardest hit.
Pathum Thani also declared Rangsit municipality an emergency disaster zone.
