Kathmandu: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged people to remain highly alert as heavy rainfall is expected in various parts of the country today and tomorrow. The hilly and Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Madhes and Koshi provinces are particularly at high risk, while many areas of Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces have also been placed under caution.
The risk of rainfall is expected to become more widespread and intense on Saturday. This could pose additional risks to riverbank areas, landslide-prone settlements, and students and families affected by recent floods and landslides. Authorities have urged them to exercise extra caution.
From Sunday, the weather system is expected to move westward, bringing improvement to eastern Nepal. The weather is forecast to gradually improve across most parts of the country from Monday, with weather-related warnings likely to end nationwide by Tuesday. The division has urged local administrations, security agencies and disaster management teams in high-risk areas to remain prepared. The public has also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from rivers and landslide-prone areas.
