Nepal has proposed a fine of up to Rs 15,000 for littering in public places. The provision is included in the Waste Management Bill registered in Parliament by Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal.
The bill proposes fines of Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 for dumping household waste in public areas. Dumping hazardous waste elsewhere could attract a fine of Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000, while failing to remove posters and pamphlets from public places could result in fines of Rs 50,000 to Rs 200,000.
