A social media post by Victor Poudel criticizing supporters of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the government over negative comments about flood victims has triggered a response from RSP lawmaker Ashika Tamang.

Poudel said families dealing with missing or deceased relatives in floods may naturally express frustration when their pleas receive no meaningful response or assurance. He accused some RSP and government supporters of adding to the pain of affected families.

Responding to him, Tamang argued that the RSP itself emerged from a mix of the country’s three traditional political parties, saying that changing political parties alone cannot transform the country. She stressed that public awareness must also change.
