Prakash Kafle/ Kathmandu. Actress Subhashini Subramaniam, who was active in the South Indian television and film industry, has tragically passed away at the age of 36. Her body was found in her own flat in the Iyyappanthangal area of Chennai, the police reported.
According to initial reports, Subhashini had been struggling with mental stress and depression for some time. On the day of the incident, April 6, she reportedly had a video call with her husband, Bipin Chandran, during which a heated argument took place, according to the investigation. Following the incident, it is suspected that she may have taken her own life in a moment of distress. However, the police have sent the body for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause, and the investigation is ongoing.
The Sri Lankan-born Subhashini had married Bipin in 2024. However, they had been living separately recently due to marital issues.
Subhashini began her acting career in 2012 with Ini Avan. She later gained significant recognition in the Tamil television industry, particularly for her role as ‘Deepika’ in the serial Kayal, which made her very popular among viewers. She also acted in films and web content, including Illam Mela Irukuravan Paathuppan.
Just two days before her death, she had shared an emotional message on social media reflecting on the meaning of life, which has now drawn further attention. The untimely demise of this talented artist, who had moved from Sri Lanka to Chennai and established herself through perseverance, has left the South Indian entertainment industry in shock.
