Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet reacted to the latest Supreme Court of Nepal order, saying it was a decision in their favor and declaring, “We won, the government lost.”
The Supreme Court has dismissed the habeas corpus petition filed against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, issuing a directive to the Kathmandu District Court not to extend their remand any further. According to the court order, the government must release them on bail or formally present the case within the next four days.
Responding to the decision, Basnet welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling and claimed that the government’s actions had been motivated by revenge and retaliation. He stated that the court’s order confirmed the CPN-UML’s stance.
This development signals a potential increase in political tension between the government and the opposition in recent times.
