Prakash Kafle / Kathmandu. Yogesh Bhattarai, Deputy General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (UML), has expressed serious disagreement with the process of selecting the parliamentary leader of the party. Through his social media post on Facebook, Bhattarai stated that, considering the current political situation and the internal state of the party, the adopted process was not appropriate. He noted that following the recent elections, the party has suffered a significant setback, public dissatisfaction with the leadership has increased, and the overall movement is facing various challenges, making it necessary to unite the party and restore public trust.
According to Bhattarai, during such a sensitive period, more time should have been taken to seek consensus between the party leadership and the MPs through thorough discussions for selecting the parliamentary leader. However, he expressed dissatisfaction that the decision was made hastily and under a pressured environment.
He further stated that this process has caused additional concern and discontent within the party ranks. Emphasizing the need to move forward based on dialogue, consensus, and unity within the party, he urged the leadership to pay attention to this matter in the coming days.
