Prakash Kafle/Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has planned a two-day orientation program for its newly elected members of the House of Representatives. The party has instructed all lawmakers elected through both the direct and proportional systems to attend the program. According to the party, the orientation will take place on March 16 and 17 (Chaitra 3 and 4 in the Nepali calendar) at Hotel Royal Tulip in Gwarko, Lalitpur. The program will be conducted as a fully residential event.
An internal notice issued by the party’s General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti states that accommodation and meals for the participating lawmakers will be arranged by the party on a shared basis throughout the program. The orientation is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on the first day. Lawmakers have been asked to attend in business casual attire. To maintain discipline and focus during the sessions, the party has introduced strict guidelines. The use of mobile phones inside the hall during the program will be completely prohibited. Lawmakers have also been advised not to bring family members, friends, or other guests to the venue and to avoid meeting outsiders or taking photos during the sessions.
However, arrangements for food and accommodation for drivers or personal assistants accompanying the lawmakers will have to be managed by the respective MPs themselves outside the hotel. Party sources say the orientation aims to brief lawmakers on parliamentary procedures, the party’s political direction, and its upcoming plans.
